Come home to H5... It has been a great year in Cult for H5. An amazing year - Main GC 2nd, Freshies GC 3rd, Dram Trophy, Social trophy and the PAF trophy!

Freshies GC
It must say that it has been one of the most wonderful batch of freshies that we got in the last few years. Brilliant effort was put in by the entire batch and won the Lit and the Fine Arts trophy convincingly.

Debating Trophy
Although we did not get an overall position in the Debating trophy, H5 put up some real good performances in the Debating trophy. Anni bagged 1st in English Turncoat with his hilarious speech, beating some real 'gods' of the insti. In Elocution, Kunal bagged a 2nd (Hindi) and Gulati 4th (English). Madan took 3rd in Hindi Debate. Other consistent participants in the debating events included Chitranshu, Naveen, GT and my self. ;-)

Lit Trophy
Some promising freshies who stormed the Freshie Lit GC ensured that H5 was well represented in the Lit trophy. Our potpourri team (Chitranshu, MalaD and Zi) bagged 2nd, losing only to the best team in town.

Fine Arts Trophy
Kashyap and Vikas took the Fine Arts scene by storm and maintained the trend of bagging consistent positions in Fine Arts events. Hemant did a wonderful job as a secy and H5 was placed 4th in the Fine Arts trophy.

Music Trophy
We missed the Music trophy by a whisker. We were leading till the last event when one not-so-fair judgement in the Western Group singing saw us slip to 2nd in the Music GC. We came 1st in Light, 2nd in Western and 2nd in Gyrations. I would say that the entire credit for this would go to 3 men - Madan for his infinite enthusiasm and godgiri in dance, Shravanth for his melodious music and Kunal for his immense talent. Ofcourse, there was always the freshie batch to back up the events. A mention of Shaveen, Shashank and Chinmay who very actively participated in dance and Rajan who represented H5 in classical.

Dram Trophy
Ok, now coming to the cake. This was the last trophy to wind up in the Main GC. Brilliant efforts by Kunal, Gaurav Meena and GT saw us come 2nd in the Monoacting/Mime. In the English dram, H5 freshies did a hilarious and unique spoof on 'Romeo and Juliet'. Although we did not place in the event, we were still in contention for the 1st place in Dram trophy. All we had to do was come 1st in the Street play! And if this could be done, we also the chance of winning the Main GC. The last event - Street play - happened in a true dramatic style. Madan started it off ... and Naga finished it. The audience was zapped after our play. And the result - we came 1st.

We came 1st in the Dram trophy but unfortunately missed the Main GC by a narrow margin of 4 points! It was so close ... yet so far. Every one of us wished had we placed one position higher in any one of the events, we would have romped home with the Cult GC. But I guess things happen as they are destined to be. We have something to fight for the next year. And anyways, 2nd in Cult GC is no mean a feat to achieve. Kudos to everyone who made it possible!!

Socials - Ek Choti Si Love Story
H5 continued its style of doing a neat and clean social and walked home with joint 1st! We shared the trophy with H6. (Little did anyone know that we would also share the PAF trophy H6).

PAF - Shanti Mrigyam
PAF was an experience. I cannot put it in words here (please refer to Madan's PAF report and Naga's PAF Charit Manas for more details). We were paired up with H6. And both the hostels rose from being placed no where last year to coming a clear 1st this year. We swept all the trophies, except for Costumes and Choreo (unfortunately). Direction, Voiceover, Script, Screenplay, Lights, Music, Prod. Everything! Infact, the audience was so amazed by the PAF that it was even rated by many in the Top-5 PAFs that happened in OAT. I am thankful to Madan, Naga, Vibhor, Samadhiya, Vyas, Yogi, the entire Freshie batch and everybody else who made Shanti Mrigyam happen.

To write the Cult report of an entire eventful year in mere two pages is a difficult task to do. There are a lot of thigs that do not find mention due to lack of space. Nevertheless, there importance is not undermined. There are a lot of people whom I would like to thank, but missing any name is what I am apprehensive about. However, I would like to thank Kunal (G Sec) and all my cult secys - Hemant, GT, Chuchi, Rajeev, Ankur and Girdhari for their wonderful support and work. Without you, it would not have been possible. And of all things that I can mention from my tenure as Cult Co., one thing would clealrly stand out - the PAF trophy!

H5... H5...
