IIT

This section is a reminiscence of the wonderful years I spent at IIT Bombay between 2000 and 2005.

Techfest
And if you ask me to name one word that made my stay at IIT most special, it has to be 'Techfest'. Two years in the core team (Manager Lecture Series, 2003 and Overall Coordinator, 2004) was an unforgetable experience. So ... what is Techfest? Is it IIT Bombay's annual science and technology festival and the biggest of it's kind in Asia? Is it an event that attracts 15000 students from over 700 colleges? An event that takes more than 9 months and over a 150 team meetings to conceptualize and execute? Is it the team? Or is it a family? And although I have tried to answer this question a lot of times, I could never come up with a satisfactory answer.

Read an interesting exchange of mails between me and RMS. Also read - the FAQ Kaisa chal raha hai Techfest?, an article on Techfest 2004 in IIT Update and the Techfest 2004 Lookback. [+]

Civil Dept., IIT Bombay
Oh yes. If I was at IIT, then I must be studying engineering. Civil engineering to be exact. What else did you expect me to do with a rank of 1878 in JEE 2000? But I guess this was the most wonderful accident to happen to me! It gave me all the time in the world to do the things that I really wanted to do, while doing reasonably well at acads. Of course, it gave me a job at the end of 4 years and two degrees at the end of 5. But the reason that makes my department so special is that I met some of my most dear friends here. [+]

Hostel and Wing
For somebody who is new to IIT culture, let me tell you that hostel is where the life lies. Wing treats, Sports GC, Cult GC, nightouts, waterfights, PAFs, Socials, mugging, birthday bumps - your hostel is the place! Read my hostel valfi profile. Pictures of my wing mates. For memory sakes, here is the Freshie Welcome I wrote for hostel mag as Lit Secy in second year and the Cult Report as Cult Co. in third year.

InsIghT
Writing is something I really enjoy. And add a touch of journalism to it, and that is what I would love! Probably, its in the genes ... my mother being a journalist herself. I used to write for InsIghT, the monthly newsmagazine of IIT Bombay. This section is a collection of my articles during the college days. [+]

Yayati
To dream big is synonymous with IITB (B for big?). One such 'dream' was to revive and do the Annual Production. This meant that you would see the institute's best talent together on stage. The Annual Production was intended to be a dram, complete with lights, music and sets. Girish Karnad's play 'Yayati' was chosen for the script. What follows here is a brief account (an exhaustive one would require me to write a book) of the people who made it happen. [+]
